On July 8–9, 2025, the UGEN Workshop “Archiving Feminist and Queer Knowledge Production in the Academy” took place at Freie Universität Berlin. The event brought together members of the international UGEN network (Una Europa Gender and Equality Network).

This workshop was the first of two to be held at Freie Universität Berlin in 2025. The project aims to document and share feminist and queer pedagogies that foster inclusivity, while mapping the development of Women’s and Gender Studies across Una Europa universities. A central goal is to integrate these histories into institutional memory, supporting reflection and future learning.

Participants included:
Ewa Bogacz-Wojtanowska, Sylwia Wrona (Jagiellonian University);
Aideen Quilty (University College Dublin);
Radhika Govinda, Fiona Mackay (University of Edinburgh);
Katrin Meyer, Helena Rust (University of Zurich);
Sarah Bellows-Blakely, Sabina García Peter, Heike Pantelmann, and Anne-Marie Harrison (Freie Universität Berlin).

Special guests included Klaus Wiehl (Una Europa Project Coordinator at Freie Universität Berlin), as well as Meike Haken and Catherine Seveke (CRC “Affective Societies,” Freie Universität Berlin), who shared insights from the project “Affective Archive – Project Biographies of the CRC Affective Societies.”

The next UGEN meeting will be held on October 9–10, 2025, again at Freie Universität Berlin.

The UGEN network was established in 2021 as part of the Una Europa alliance. More information about the network's activities can be found here: UGEN – Una Europa Gender and Equality Network
