Open Research at the MvBZ

Open Research/Science stands for open, transparent, and reusable access to research – ranging from freely accessible open-access publications and teaching materials to transparent research data management.

With its open-access projects, the GenderOpen repository, and the Open Gender Journal, the MvBZ continues its work supporting publications and researchers in gender studies, which was already a central task of its predecessor institution. Through numerous third-party funded projects, the MvBZ has driven the open-access transformation of the field for many years.

Since 2026, the FID Gender has been coordinated at the MvBZ. The Toolbox Gender and Diversity in Teaching is an open educational resource offered by the MvBZ.

Through this work, the MvBZ acts in the spirit of the Open Access Policy of Freie Universität Berlin and actively contributes to building an open research infrastructure – at FU Berlin and beyond. Together with its partner institutions, the MvBZ thus creates sustainable structures that make the results of gender studies visible to scholarly and non-scholarly audiences alike.
