The Specialized Information Service FID Gender develops and pools services for researchers in the field of gender studies. It provides access to specialized literature and archival materials, offers advice on research data management, supports open-access publishing, and facilitates networking opportunities within the academic community.
We are currently in the process of developing our services. A web portal serving as the central hub for FID Gender will go live in 2026. We will provide regular updates on the launch and new services, initially through the MvBZ’s and project partners’ channels.
Until then, you can find further information and contact details here.
Our Services
Community and Networking
FID Gender serves as a networking infrastructure for an inter-, trans-, and multidisciplinary field. The upcoming web portal will bring together key resources, provide up-to-date information, and facilitate opportunities for exchange. We invite you to get actively involved, identify needs, and develop ideas for collaboration.

Literature and Information Resources
META+ creates an integrated search and reference platform for gender studies, bringing together previously scattered collections, catalogs, and data sources and making them searchable. We also specifically address gaps in coverage through needs-based acquisitions and the licensing of international specialized literature. If you have suggestions for relevant resources or items we need to acquire, please feel free to contact us.

In collaboration with the library community, we are working to improve content indexing and its tools (subject classifications, keywords, etc.) so that gender studies literature becomes more visible and easier to find.

Research Data
We compile information on existing research data infrastructures and develop community-specific information, advisory, and training services for qualitative and quantitative research data. Our goal is to sustainably strengthen the organization, archiving, sharing, and reuse of research data in gender studies. If you are interested in exchanging ideas or participating in workshops, we look forward to hearing from you.

Open Access
FID Gender supports authors, publishers, and editorial teams with questions regarding open-access primary and secondary publications, as well as with the transformation processes of journals and book series. We develop information and advisory services tailored to gender studies and provide access to more than 3600 open access texts via the repository GenderOpen. Contact us to discuss your open-access publication, journal or book series transformation, or related project with us.
