As part of the MvBZ anniversary in 2026 *45 years of the Central Facility / 10 years of MvBZ*, various events will be held during the summer semester of 2026 and in the fall of 2026 to celebrate this milestone. We cordially invite you to join us!
“Starting today, it’s my agenda!” The Autonomous Women’s Movement and the Invention of the Feminist Book Market in the 1970s and 1980s.
If we walk into a well-stocked bookstore of our choice today and ask for feminist literature, we’ll quickly find what we’re looking for. Biographical experiences such as pregnancy or sexualized violence are frequently explored in contemporary literature. This visibility may seem self-evident, but as is often the case, emancipatory developments did not simply fall from the sky; they were hard-won. In this event, we will therefore take a look back at the 1970s and 1980s and examine the struggles and strategies of the autonomous women’s movement, as well as the Free University as a venue for feminist public discourse.
