Niharika Tyagi (winter term 2016/17)

Niharika Tyagi is an exchange scholar under the EU funded Erasmus plus programme from TERI University, New Delhi. The programme started in October 2016 and will go on until March 2017 at the Environmental Policy Research Centre of Freie Universität. Niharika’s research broadly focuses on gender and environment linkages, particularly in the forest societies of Central India. Her project is aimed at examining the gender responsiveness of forest policies in India. Her study intends to contribute to the growing research on gender, development and natural resource management. At Freie, she is also a part of book project on Indian Environmental Policy funded by the DFG where she is involved in the reviewing process.

About

Niharika holds an MSc. Degree in Natural Resource Management from TERI University, New Delhi and BSc. Degree in Botany from the University of Delhi. In the past years, she has been associated with grassroots organizations working in the field of environment and resource management.

The title of her Doctoral Research is: Gender and Community Forestry Institutions: Analysing Gender Roles, Identities and Outcomes in Local Forest Governance.
