Participation in Conferences in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Dr. Susanne Lettow participated in the conference of the International Society for History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology from 19 to 22 July 2017 at the University of São Paulo, followed by the conference of the International Society for History of Science from 23 to 30 July at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Lettow gave two talks presenting the results of the German Research Foundation project “Genealogy and Belonging: Concepts of Reproduction, Descent and Kinship in Post-Kantian Naturphilosophie. The talks addressed conceptions of “diversity” and processes of naturalization in the work of Immanuel Kant, Alexander von Humboldt, and Henrik Steffens.
